Nickie has a spirit that's wild and free. Twinkling eyes and oceans of depth. Join us on a sea spray meditation among the reeds. These photos were part of the Model Portfolio Development work that we shot at Alameda Beach.
"What should I do about my Tan Lines??"
Try to get some naked sun time everyday! I’ve found that even 15-30 minutes a day (1/2 the time face up, 1/2 face down) can minimize or eliminate tan lines in a week or 2 (depending on how fast you tan). You can go slow- the more you plan ahead the better (but remember this option is weather permitting). Oh and always cover your face/neck/chest for anti-aging protection! I’m not a big fan of sunless tanner because it’s usually orangey and hard to predict how it’s going to turn out and the last thing I want is for you to have pictures where you're orange and streaky and don’t feel like yourself. Some studios can do a really good job at giving you a natural looking sunless tan. If you have experience with a salon that produces tried and true results then maybe this would be a good option... otherwise don't risk experimenting. If we're not taking nude photos, an easy solution is to wear lingerie and swimwear that is the same cut and shape as your tan lines. Also, our pro MUA is good at working her makeup magic on *small problem areas. Lastly, there’s always good ole Photoshop. This is the last resort because it can be extremely time consuming to edit tan lines in post. It’s great that you’re thinking about this now. Just do the best you can… because tan lines happen. I am confidant that we can produce flattering images whichever route we go. The best choice is to use the time that we have to prepare and plan ahead of time. Here's what we'll be prepping for your shoot: -WARDROBE -LOCATIONS (if shooting on location) -HAIR -MAKEUP -SKIN -NAILS TIMELINE: COUNTDOWN TO YOUR SHOOT... 3 weeks before shoot: -Tan Lines - Please be careful with tanning leading up to your shoot and watch your sun exposure! If you already have tan lines now's the time to work on them! Read here for how... -Now is the time for Facial peels and treatments that are more intensive and require time to heal and/or recover. -We'll begin brainstorming styling ideas for your shoot. I'll put together a mood board and send it to you. Styling will tie together wardrobe and location with hair, makeup, right down to your nails! 2 weeks before shoot: -Location Scouting! As we finalize our locations that will help focus our styling choices for wardrobe, hair and makeup. 1 week before shoot: -WAX: Bikini & leg waxing Lip waxing Eyebrow waxing -Facial or light skin treatments 2-3 days before shoot: -Nails *Hands & Feet* (choose 1): 1. Clean & trim/file nails if needed. Remove old nail polish with remover. Scrub with nail brush to remove dirt under nails. Cover with clear top coat or leave matte and natural. 2. Get a manicure & pedicure. Choose a color from your moodboard to match your wardrobe or get a French Manicure which is timeless & sophisticated and a Clear pedicure. -Eyebrows plucked (if you didn't wax them) -Exfoliate body & face 2-3 days before shoot (give a little recovery time). Remember to include your lips when you exfoliate! Use a good moisurizer in the days leading up to the shoot. Do an at home facial or use an over-night skin treatment that will give your skin some extra love for a deep glow. Night before Shoot: -Shower for clean hair. -Shave body hair (if you didn't wax) -Skin: Sleep 8 hours Don't drink or party the night before. Avoid smoking if you can. Day of Shoot: -Wash face and arrive moisturized and makeup free. -Exfoliate lips for smooth plump lips! -Wear loose clothing to avoid marks from straps and socks etc. This will also make it easier to change after your hair and makeup is done! Voila! You are camera ready and your photos will reflect your most timeless beauty and deep down glow!
Took a little break. Now I'm back. Hope you are taking good care of yourself and taking all the time you need to tend to your emotions too. Here's some recent work I wanted to share with you. Model: Jamie @_jamiejamster
MUAH: Mercedes Gramajo @inthecurls Follow these amazing creative ladies! This is the first shoot I did after the GhostShip fire. Art is the only thing that makes sense to me in the face of so much death- to take this heartbreak and turn it into art... I don't really know how to express what I'm feeling, but when I allow myself to feel it- the expression takes care of it's self and I feel better in the doing of it. A secret door to a private lagoon where I can swim in the cauldron of cosmic soup- baptized by the jumbled dream sequence disintegrating into chaos... reassembling into a new order... This was a collaboration with my hair buddy Paul Victor (who does amazing cut and color over at Spank Salon in Alameda- go see him!). Hair: Paul Victor @4thairsman Model: Sara Gabriela Sanchez @saraschz RIP to all the beautiful souls who perished in the fire. Your impact on my life and art is immeasurable. I will forever take with me lessons I've learned from you about how to show up in the world, how to have integrity and soulfulness, how to connect... Crazy the ways we are all connected...
